Getting started

3 articles in this topic

How does bidding work?
Browse the live auctions, open a lot, and enter an amount at or above the minimum next bid. Placing a bid is a firm, binding offer to buy at that price. If you're the highest bidder when the auction ends and the reserve is met, you win the item.
Why do I need to confirm my email?
To keep the marketplace trustworthy, you must confirm your email address before you can place bids or list items. After signing up, we send you a confirmation link, open it to activate your account. You can resend the link any time from the banner shown while your email is unconfirmed.
What is SoumUp?
SoumUp is an online auction marketplace for Morocco. Sellers list items, buyers bid in real time, and the two sides complete the sale directly between themselves. SoumUp connects you and provides the service; it never holds the item price, it only charges a service fee.

What is a reserve price?
The reserve is the minimum amount the seller is willing to accept. If bidding ends below the reserve, the item is not sold. The lot shows whether the reserve has been reached so you always know where you stand.
What is the minimum next bid?
Each new bid must be at least the current highest bid plus the minimum increment set on the lot. The "Minimum next bid" figure on the bid panel is always pre-filled for you.
Why did the closing time change after a late bid?
To prevent last-second sniping, a bid placed in the final minutes automatically extends the auction by a short period. This gives everyone a fair chance to respond, so the lot is won by the genuinely highest bidder.
What does "Buy now" do?
When a seller offers a "Buy now" price, you can purchase the item immediately at that amount, ending the auction right away instead of waiting for it to close.
Will I be notified if someone outbids me?
Yes. If another bidder tops your offer, we email you so you have a chance to place a new bid before the auction ends. You'll also receive a confirmation when your bid is placed and a result email when the auction finishes.

Selling & listing

How do I list an item for auction?
Go to "Sell with us" and complete the listing form: title, starting price, category, condition, photos and location, then submit. Our team reviews every submission, typically within 24 hours, before the lot goes live. You can track your listings from your "My auctions" dashboard.
When and how do I get paid?
The buyer pays you directly for the item when you hand it over, in person or by the method you agree together. SoumUp does not hold or release your money; it only charges its service fee. Once the buyer confirms the deal, you receive their name, phone and email in your account, and you contact them within 2 days to arrange payment and handover.
What commission does SoumUp charge sellers?
Our seller commission (0%) is set by the platform and shown before you confirm. There are no listing fees, and there is nothing to pay if your item does not sell.

Payments & fees

What fees and taxes apply?
A service fee, shown on each listing, is added to the winning bid. Prices are displayed excluding VAT (25%), applied at the legal rate in force in Morocco. The bid panel breaks down the totals before you confirm.
How do payment and delivery work after I win?
When you win, confirm the deal. The seller then contacts you within 2 days to arrange inspection, payment and handover. You pay the seller directly for the item; SoumUp does not handle the item payment or shipping and never holds your money. SoumUp only charges its service fee, shown before you confirm.

How do I get in touch with the seller after I win?
You don't need to chase the seller. Once you confirm the deal, the seller receives your contact and reaches out to you within 2 days to arrange inspection, payment and handover. For your privacy, the seller's details are never shared with you. If you haven't heard from them within 2 days, contact our support team and we'll help you complete your deal.
How do I pay for the item?

Can I share the other person's contact details?
No. Any details you receive may be used only to complete that one deal. You may not publish, resell, reuse or market to the other party's name, phone or email for anything else. Misuse leads to your account being suspended.
